Steam
Steam, in place of GameSpy, is needed for playing E:TW MP
This is a free download (approximately 2MB) from HERE It has its own windows installer.
You have to create a username, email address, password etc for logging on to Steam to play.
In the same way that you had to create a profile for GameSpy
I will see if I can find some more information on how you 'Log on' etc etc and report back.

Re: Steam
Set up an account ready. Who knows, perhaps one day I will move on...

After trying to test the Demo I would definately need a pc upgrade (CPU) to play Empire:TW.
Just tested the CPU Usage. Loading the Options page my present CPU is running at 100% usage.
In the Demo I have set all Options to...Low.. and the Demo stalls when the Load Bar reaching 50% loaded.
Yes, I have been able to get to the Options page. Changed the options to try to run the demo. Have also been able to select Single Player and then the loading freezes at about 50%. So I cannot get to the game/army selection page.
Loading page and graphics for the options page look very nice though. Clean and clear. Better than previous games.

^Nomad^ Group
I have set up a Group for the ^Nomad Alliance^ members and also made it a Public group so that other players may join if they wish.
Link=> http://steamcommunity.com/groups/NomadAlliance/
I don't know if you are able to see the link if you do not have a Steam Account.
This way we can see each other when any of us are online. Each player can belong to any number of groups, you are not restricted to only one.
I believe that the more groups you are in the easier it will be to set up games with players you know.
Has anyone any ideas for an Avatar for this group? That is the box with the big ? in it.
Remember it has to be Square. Otherwise we could have used the Forum banner.

Re: Steam
You still have the Horse Archer from the original ^Nomad Alliance^ banner, that image was square.
Regarding steam.....
It does not exactly sound particularly user friendly, I've stated this before. Total War games (IMO) require a lobby where any and all players are located. This business of setting up a 'quick game' with who knows who is so impersonal and remote as to be positively negative.
These are just my feelings about the direction the game has followed, it really doesn't matter because nothing about ETW appeals to me.
