Nothing to translate: an italian magazine titles that new TW game will be Medieval 2. Or ět is a fake or really at CA they lost their brains. Why to repeat? Isn't better to have a new Napoleon, or China, or America Civil War or ...

I discussed this with Toda a few nights ago. The question was...'What era will CA choose for the next TW game?'
We both agreed that the current format (sword, spear, cav, missile) has limited avenues left to cover. We also agreed that Napoleonic or American Civil War had little appeal. This was our personal opinion, no doubt others would find it exciting. I think either of these would be a bit 2 dimensional and would be a completely different approach to warfare.
There again, remaking Shogun or Medieval could be considered a backward step. It will be interesting to find out what route CA decide to take.

A link to some screen shots of MTW 2
In particular, take a look at the 'controls' on the righthand side of the battle screen in the larger pics.

Oh well it doesn't seem to have anything to share with TW series. It should be a fake.
As far as the next TW I would prefer a Napoleonic one.
Mosquettes and Guns but also infantry melee and cavalry charges. A lot of factions too. And it would be really appreciated with some new naval battles and warfare. That is my opinion.
In Synthesis: a modern age TW but still with some principles well bound back to the previous totalwar series. In shogun we had mosquettes too.

I remember the old NTW Mod with its infantry squares and lancer type cav. Plenty of cannons too. 19th Century warfare is not really my forte but muskets were greatly improved from the the 16th Century arquebusiers and muskets of Shogun. I think units such as Pikemen were no longer in use. As far as I know, the only melee of that time was fixed bayonets.
Perhaps the English Civil War period would still offer something close to the format used so far, Swords, Pikes, Cav and Muskets. As I stated, Napoleonic would introduce a whole new approach, not to my liking because when gunpowder took over in history I lost interest.
On a grander scale - a larger SP map area and campaign - I would love to see Mongol Total War, whereby the player attempts to achieve the feats of Chingis Khan. Maybe this would be too similar to Shogun but the campaign map would offer such diversity. Imagine the task of uniting the Mongol and Turkic tribes, moving on to seige type warfare in China. The campaigns of central Asia and Persia and then on into Russia and Europe plus a naval assault of Japan. A massive campaign game that SP players have been asking for.
I only hope that CA does not go down the Fantasy road..LOTR TW would definitely not appeal to me.

Thanks for the links Glyndwr !!
Very interesting prospect. It should suit all the MTW die hards and I must say that it does look very nice from the screenshots; although a few too many great helms. All I hope now is that CA will not make the same mistake as they did in MTW, namely making the Muslim factions weak. I have my reservations about this since 9 out of 10 screenshots concentrate on European Knights and men at arms. Screenshot 10 was great, those Turkish heavy cav look very nice.
The next question has to be what specs are required to run this game?
