Some possible Mongol banner variants..
1. The MI Dragon
2. Eagle
3. Tiger
4. Moon (white circle black background)
5. Bow (similar to BI Hun)
6. Horse (similar to BI Vandal)
7. Comet
8. Black cross on white background

i need some names for these clans/families please
(and any other possibles, some images do not translate to the tiny size needed for the game)

I thought about that after selecting Mongols last night and looking at the size of the standard. Horse and Tiger can be thrown out I reckon. The eagle should be do-able hopefully because it is historically authentic, it was the standard of Hulegu (Qubilai's brother and supporter during the civil war period)
Another actual standard was that of Muqhali, which featured a sun and moon and accounts from the Kingdom of Georgia when Jebe and Subedei marched through, mentioned a white cross, which added to the myth of Prester John. Maybe a serpent could be used?
I'll try to come back as soon as I can with Clan names and some more suggestions. If all else fails, the dragon on different colour backgrounds might be an option.

Could it be a choice of using mongol family names for the mongol clans?
I think ^HUN^ would be able to name a few?

What is the size for the Faction Shield or Mongol Banner, whichever name applies?
If we can come up with some designs and place Clan or Family names to them it will help.

Thinking aloud....Design a banner, add clan name, hmmm that looks good.

dont quote me but i think it's 32 pixel square for the flag on the battle field.
(best to get it as crisp at that level as you can, if i need larger i can easy make larger))

IIRC i will need to make several different ones,
for the selection screen, for the end of battle reports, for the battle itself and so on

what about the viking one? it's a bird (FN_07)

ALSO i dont have BI installed, please extract and upload bmp's of any of the faction flag designs that would suit

my son woke me in the middle of the night and i could not sleep,
so i wiped a hdd, added it to the system and installed rtw.
(and then went back to sleep)

these are 8 that appeal to me as shield images,
(the colours would change naturally)
are any of these suitable for the mongol "factions" ?

I am getting the same problem barocca. I'm uploading the images but the host image function isn't allowing them.
I have checked the server but there are NO new images showing since the banner one I uploaded.
There is no limit to the number of images that can be uploaded so that isn't the problem.
Perhaps the Server is doing some maintenance work.

(not looking at the faction flag itself yet - (there is a limit on the number of active factions at one time)

at the moment i am looking at unit shields
NOW please understand we cannot assign a shield to a faction for a unit,
and while we could have a duplicate of each unit for each faction we would fill the unit prod file very quickly (it has a limit on max units)

but perhaps we could give some fancy shields to the existing units

here is what two possible shields featuring the horse would look like

with green being the primary faction colour and purple being the secondary colour
it would depend entirely on the contrast between a factions primary and secondary colour as to what you would see on the shield, factions that have the same colour for both would have a shield diusplaying only their colour and no image at all
(these are full ingame size using the 512 bif, the 256 bif would be half)

so we could give the bow shield to mongol HA's
and pick a set dragon shield for yuan HA's
give this horse shield to song cav,
and similar for heavy cav and infantry too.

There's four that will be good. Those three comets look more like three horns to me. I'll submit some shortly.

You know what your doing with shields, I'm sure it will look good.

22 shield designs, 2 or 3 in each unit bif to give some variety,
green is main faction colour, purple is secondary,
so reverse are possible.
will try to make sure each currently planned unit that has a shield is a different variant
(ie no 2 units with exact shield - no promises)

So, we have unit stats, we have unit names, we have Faction names, we have shield designs.
Do we have banners yet?

If we are able to put each to its own....faction..banner..units..shield..stats, can we now build eight separate mongol armies? For example...4v4 all different faction colours.

Would be interesting to try this on MP.

Would like to test what we have now, see how the game runs and then, do whatever tweaking needs to be done. We have to start somewhere.
Any comments?
